Bio of Dick Hedman - Director of Motorsports Operations
A pioneer in the automotive industry, Dick helped operate the now legendary family business, Hedman Hedders. Dick later took over the ownership reins with his brother Ken Hedman in 1975 when their father Robert Hedman retired. During this period, Dick involved himself in all facets of the automotive industry, from racing and engine tuning to vehicle customization and upgrading.
In the racing ranks, Dick was the Crew Chief for Hedman Motorsports, campaigning racecars in NHRA Pro Stock (The Hedman Hustler 1970 Maverick) and SCCA Road Racing Series campaigning Formula Fords and Formula Atlantic cars.
In the automotive aftermarket ranks, after running Hedman Hedders for years, he went on to own the Clay Smith Cam Shaft Company ("Mr. Horsepower"). After selling the business Dick moved to Phoenix, Arizona permanently in 1991, Dick and Ken purchased Paradise Valley Auto Service. Longing to get back into the performance end of the industry, Dick sold his portion of the company and became The Project Manager for Bob Bondurant, when the Bob Bondurant School started building SuperFormance Cobra replicars. Although the Cobra business was doing well, Mr. Bondurant decided to stop producing the vehicles. It was then that Dick moved on to work for Courtesy Chevrolet (Phoenix area Chevy dealer), where he was the Performance Center Manager. At Courtesy, Dick developed the Thunder Truck Performance Series Trucks. These trucks featured performance upgrades including SuperChargers, Exhaust systems, suspension components, Air induction Systems and more.
A seasoned veteran of tuning and upgrading performance on vehicles, Dick is now the Director of Motorsports Operations for GORILLA Motorsports. Dick Hedman’s 40 year knowledge and expertise in vehicle restyling, is the backbone and driving force behind Silverback Edition vehicles from GORILLA Motorsports.
